"Mighty Joe Young, g and James Green, b claimed to have played on the above"

"Homework was written by Eddie Thomas and Tony Gideon for Al Perkins. Their names are on the first pressing on USA but then Al made a deal with Don Robey's publishing company, Don Music, so that Al and 'Dee' (actually Dave) Clark got the credit, and that's how it's listed now with BMI. (Info from an interview with Tony Gideon, supported by an early USA label photo.)" "Al Perkins evidently sold the song to Duke/Don Music before he recorded his own USA version, although he may well have recorded a demo he played for Robey or Dave Clark of Duke, claiming it as his song which he then split with Clark." Delmark CD DD-615 (2011): "The source material for the CD is now the original 1967 analog stereo mix by Stu Black." The Delmark DS-615 (1967) mix of "Every Night and Every Day" (2:19) omits the first verse entirely, because there was a bum note that prevented its use (Bob Koester); this apparently has been resolved for the 2011 CD remastered reissue
